Regular Activities | Special Events | Educational Visits | Other UK HE EventsRegular ActivitiesWe meet fortnightly at a local indoor play area in the Medway area - 2 hours during which the children can build friendships, and let off steam. Take the opportunity to meet with other parents within the group, over a cup of coffee. Discount for members of UK Home Educators. For further information, please contact us. There are also similar opportunities in Orpington and Bromley. On alternate weeks to the play area, we go to a local park or to a house belonging to one of the group. These vary in location, between Maidstone, Dartford, Swanley and Bromley areas. For further information, please contact us. We also now meet fortnightly in the borough of Bromley, at a local park. Activities are being added at the moment for teens, with a regular bowling opportunity currently running. We also meet regularly for walks, kite flying and general "play" times. Our children range in age from babe-in-arms to 15 years old so there is always something going on to suit individual families. Special EventsIn July, our group hosts an Annual South East Beach Day for Home Educators, now in its third year. We meet at Joss Bay (between Broadstairs and Kingsgate). Several other groups in the south east will be joining us. If you'd like to be notified of this, and other Special Events, please contact us.
We have a full programme of museum visits and other educational outings planned for this year, as well as joint outings with other home education groups. These include things such as the London Aquarium, the Royal Mews, an Observatory, and much more. For security reasons, specific details of these are not published to non-members on the internet. Please contact us for information on how you can join us on our trips. This is just a selection of the outings we have had: Visit to the Royal Naval War Memorial in Gillingham. The children each had a fact sheet, with questions to answer. They were then helped to find a record of a sailor with the same surname as them, and take a rubbing. This provided families with a great follow on project idea, researching the ship that the sailor served on, and the local family history etc.
