Farm Trails

Church Farm is an organic farm lying alongside the River Thames in south east England. On the Church Farm trail you will find out about the different habitats at Church Farm and the plants and animals that live there. You can even have a go at making your own food chains!

The Flour and Grain Education Programme

Wheat, barley and oats are three of the most important cereals used in our diets. Their grains are used to make flours, breads, a wide range of foods and are fed to many animals. This website gives you the chance to explore the grain chain from field to plate. You will find online games and activities for children from 3 years upwards and a host of really useful teaching information.

BBC's Gardening with Children

Get back to nature and share the joy of gardening with your children. Entertain them with a selection of educational activities developed for four to seven year olds, in collaboration with the Royal Horticultural Society.

Garden Organic for Schools

The Duchy Originals Garden Organic for Schools project is a nationwide campaign which helps children grow vegetables at school, and learn more about their food. The website offers a Learning Zone, Teachers Zone, and Fun Zone.

Potatoes for Schools

Potatoes for Schools provides information and learning resources connected to the growing, farming, distribution, retailing and cooking of one of the UK's most important foods. Includes Primary Worksheets and Background Knowledge, Secondary Worksheets and Background Knowledge, Recipes and information on how to arrange a Farm Visit.

Spare the Air

The education section of the Spare the Air site has links to entertaining and interactive resources for teachers and students, including the "Creatures of Habit" video, the Smog City pollution simulation game, and the colourful and informative Clean Air Primer.

UK Agriculture

This fascinating site includes a forum, blog, history of UK agriculture, the journey from Field to Fridge of the food on your table, multimedia library full of hundreds of farming images and videos for educational use, the latest statistics, details of conservation, a visual look at the farming activities through the seasons, and a free booklet to download.
