Red BoxHM Treasury and HM Revenue & Customs have produced The Red Box, an interactive resource to teach your pupils about tax and public spending. Visitors take on management of The Square. Through playing games and answering questions students must raise enough money to maintain, or preferably improve, the services offered in The Square. Students control their own budget and thus gain experience of how decisions about tax and public spending are made. There are two different versions of the site, one suitable for 7-11 year olds and one for 11-16 year olds. Both can be used as standalone ICT resources or in conjunction with the material provided for each age group. The 7-11s site is supported by downloadable teacher’s notes and worksheets, and the 11-16s site furthers the activities in The Red Box print pack.Virtual TraderHelp explain stocks and shares using this online interactive game. |
